Veggie Garden Update- 8/12/12 We picked most of our tomatoes because sadly, all the tomato plants are dying and turning brown. I’m keeping the beets in the ground for a little longer so that hopefully they’ll grow bigger, but mostly I don’t have the time to cook them yet. The Chinese long beans are long. They have waxier and crunchier texture than regular sting beans. When I smell the Thai basil, it makes me want to eat a bowl of Pho. I bought the Peruvian purple potatoes from the Union Square Farmers Market last week. I didn’t get a chance to cook them yet. I was thinking of making mashed purple potatoes, but anyone have other recommendations on how to cook them?
