Cooking Light- Light Up the Night Tasting Event
Last Friday, my friends Winnie, TJ, Ellen and I attended Cooking Light magazine’s first ever tasting event held at the High Line, Chelsea Market Passage in conjunction with celebrating the publication’s 25th Anniversary.

The event featured celebrity chefs from all over the US. Ming Tsai was the only name I recognized and was most excited to meet. I’ve watched his East Meets West cooking show on the Food Network and Simply Ming on PBS. Most recently, I watched him compete on the 3rd season of Next Iron Chef America.
I shamelessly asked for a handshake and then later I went back to ask for a photograph. He was busy, but he kindly obliged.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any food photos to show for this post as I accidentally deleted them from my phone as I tried to upload them to the computer. There were some memorable little dishes that I really enjoyed like the white gazpacho from chef Jeremy Bearman of Rouge Tomate. It was so good we went back for seconds before we left. Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill served a tasty coconut lime ceviche. I also enjoyed a couple raw oysters, a grilled corn dish with jalapeno, lime, and grated manchego cheese. The event was packed and it got claustrophobic at times with so many people crowded into the narrow Chelsea Market Passage. But overall, meeting chef Ming Tsai, eating good food, and enjoying it all with friends made it one memorable night out!
Thank you TJ for taking and sharing your photos!
