Happy Birthday Birthday Girl!

This past weekend my college friends got together to celebrate our friend Deborah’s birthday at PUBLIC.

We couldn’t avoid discussing and admitting to the fact that the group of us are getting old…ehh I mean getting more mature. For some of us this means bed time is at 11:00pm and hangovers takes a week to get over. But as we mature, so does our palate and the willingness to try new things.

For this meal we even tried kangaroo meat. Kangaroo was quite chewy, but it could also be that it was served almost rare. I can only compare it to beef; just without the beef flavor.

We also shared the pan seared foie gras.

For my main entree, I tried the grilled lamb sirloin. I don’t remember when I started to like lamb. The mild gaminess doesn’t bother me and it’s a flavor that I really enjoy.

We split a total of four different desserts: lavendar ice cream with fresh strawberries, a blueberry kaffir lime shortcake, garam masala cakes, and another dessert called Hokey Pokey ice cream served with ginger snap cookie.

Happy Birthday Debs!
